News Updates

1. The feast of St. Kuriakose Elias will be held on 12th February, 2014 at Chavara Pilgrim Centre, Kainakary. The Novena and other spiritual preparations will commence on 3rd February, 2017.
2. Rev. Fr. John Elavathingal and Rev. Fr. Benoy Joseph were installed the Vicar and Asst. Vicar of Aparecida Parish in Santarem Diocese, Brazil on the feast of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, 3rd January, 2017. Rev. Fr. Saju Chackalackal, the General Councillor for Evangelization and Pastoral Ministry and the team of provincials of missionaries working in Brazil have reached Santarem. They will sign the contract with the Diocese and CMIs one of these days. Rev. Fr. Saju Chackalackal will be back in Chavara Hills after meeting with our missionaries in Ecuador.
3. The Golden Jubiliarians of Religious Profession assembled in Chavara Hills, thanked the Lord and reflected on their last 50 years life in CMI family on 14th, 15th and 16th January, 2017. They wrote a book titled Darsanavazhiyil 34, depicting the life of every member of their batch. The Golden Jubiliarians of Priestly Ordination spent 15th and 16th January, 2017 to praise the Lord and reflect on their Religious Priestly life. Congratulations to the Jubiliarians for their faithful and committed religious and priestly life.
4. The XXVth Synod of Syro Malabar Church, has shown a positive gesture in order to declare St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara as the Doctor of the Syro Malabar Church. Let us pray and make earnest efforts to realize our dream of St. Kuriakose Elias being declared as the Doctor of the Church.
5. During the inauguration of the Silver Jubilee of Syro Malabar Major Archepiescoapl Church held on 14th January, 2016, Rev. Fr. Prior General felicitated the gathering representing our community and the religious priests of the Syro Malabar Church.
6. In Carmel Center Liberty, First Saturday prayer programs are going pretty well and good. On 20th January, 2017, the 4th Death Anniversary of Larry Bean was commemorated. The Feast of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara will be celebrated on 4th February. Bishop David Choby will be the Main Celebrant and Rev.Dr. Tomy Velliyedath CMI will give the homily. On 23rd January, Rev. Fr. James Panackal, the Director of the Centre will meet up with Bishop David Choby for a follow up of the discussions we had during our Zonal meeting, especially to know the possibility of getting a parish near to Liberty.
7. Mall Chapel mission attracted larger number of people for confession during the Christmas season. Services of Rev. Fr. Gilson and Janesh are highly appreciated.
8. The Feast of St. Chavara was celebrated on 2nd January in Bonn Pützchen. The CMI Delegation council team celebrated the Holy Mass along with about thirty of our fathers from different dioceses. The Rector of Cologne seminary, Prälat Hans-Josef Radermacher delivered the homily. He presented St. Chavara as a Prophet and an Apostle, who read the signs of the time and acted for the betterment of the people accordingly. There were about 180 invited guests, including our parishioners and sisters from nearby convents.
9. Most Reverend Mark Coleridge, Archbishop of Brisbane Coleridge has given a coordinating Centre for CMIs in Australia in his diocese. Australia +61 4321 55 970.) Rev. Fr. John Panamthottam CMI is the parish priest in our centre. CMI common programmes will be done from this centre in Australia.
10. Inter University Chavara Speech First Round Competitions will be held in 9 colleges in Kerala at 12.30 p.m. on 14th February, 2017. The Final round will be held on 25th February, 2017 at Chavara Cultural Centre, Kochi. Congratulations and best wishes to Rev. Fr. Roby Kannanchira, Director, Chavara Cultural Centre, for organizing the event.
11. The convocation of DVK Bangalore will be held on 31st January, 2017 and the Samavarthanam in Dharmaram College will be held on 1st February, 2017.
12. The silver Jubilee of Chavara Mission, Dhule will be held on 5th February, 2017 in Dhule.
13. Let us Remember Our Departed Souls:
. Rev. Fr. Philip Attukadavil CMI (Sr) (80), of St. Thomas Province, Kozhikode, slept in the Lord on 13.01.2017.
. Mrs. Alice John (95), beloved mother of Rev. Fr. Saviance Cheerotha CMI (Sacred Heart Province, Kochi); and sister of Rev. Vithayathil Kuruvila Aaron CMI (Carmel Province, Muvattupuzha), slept in the Lord on 18.01.2017.
