News Updates

1. Residential retreat was conducted in PG House, Chavara Hills for the laity during the holy week. Rev. Fr. Paul Vadakkemuriyil was the retreat preacher. There were around 50 participants for the retreat, mostly couples. All appreciated the retreat and showed great interest to come again for the retreat during the next year. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Paul Vadakkemuriyil.
2. Inter religious Easter celebration was organized in Chavara Cultural Centre, Kochi on Easter Sunday morning. Representatives from different religions, ministers, MPs and MLAs and physically challenged brethren also attended the program. Short Easter messages were given by the guests followed by Easter breakfast. Members of the general council attended the program.
3. Canonical visitation and renewal program in St. Joseph's Province, Thiruvananthapuram was held from 7th to 11th April, 2015 in the Provincial House. Along with Rev. Fr. Prior General, the General council team attended the Province Get together and held discussion with the province community and provincial council. Concrete decisions were made for follow up action. Rev. Fr. Prior General gave the inaugural message, followed by the sessions of Rev Fr. Varghese Vithayathil, Vicar General, Rev. Fr. George Thanchan, Rev. Fr. Thomas Choolaparambil, Rev. Fr. Paul Vadakkemuriyil, Rev. Fr. Antony Njallampuzha and Rev. Fr. Roy Kannanchira. All the members appreciated the sessions and discussions.
4. Canonical visitation was held in St. Joseph's Provincial House, Kottayam, from 13th to 15th April, 2015. The Renewal program in the province was held from 15th to 18th April. On 18th the province gathering was held and General Council and Provincial Council teams made their sharing and discussion was held on relevant topics. Rev. Fr. Prior General gave the orientation talk. Rev. Fr. Mathew Madayankal, Rev. Fr. Varghese Vithayathil, Vicar General, Rev. Fr. George Thanchan, Rev. Fr. Thomas Panthaplackal, Rev. Fr. Antony Njallampuzha and Rev. Fr. Roy Kannanchira led the other sessions.
5. Brothers who made first profession from Novitiate in Mancherial visited the General House, Chavara Hills on 08 April 2015, along with Rev. Fr. Sany Kannampuzha, the Novice Master.
6. Newly professed members from CMI Novitiates in Ampazhakkad, Velanthavalam, Neriamangalam and Punaloor came to Chavara Hills on 19th April. They came to Chavara Hills campus by KSRTC bus. It was a rare experience for the people around. Rev. Fr. Prior General welcomed them and Rev. Fr. Vicar General offered them flowers of love. They conducted adoration to the Blessed Sacrament and prayed for the congregation. After the dinner, they shared their novitiate experience. Thanks to the novitiate masters, Rev. Frs. Paul Arackal, Johnson Valiyakulam, Biju Kootaplackal and Sony Palathara.
7. Bp. Ivene Pereira, Newly ordained bishop of Jammu Srinagar diocese visited our General house on 19th April, 2015. He was given a warm welcome and he addressed the Chavara Hills community along with our scholastics from four novitiates. On 20th morning, Bp. Pereira made a discussion with the General Council team and requested our service for the growth of the diocese in pastoral and educational areas.
8. Canonical visitation in SH Provincial house, Kalamassery begins on 21st April, 2014. Next visit will be on 26-30 April 2015 in Carmel Province, Muvattupuzha.
9. National CRI meeting will be held at Dharmaram College campus from May 1-4, 2015. Thanks to Dharmaram community for offering the campus and service for the major superiors of the religious in India in the Year of Consecrated Life. Rev. Fr. Prior General and all the provincials will attend the National Assembly.
10. World Day of Prayer for Vocations will be held on 26th April, 2015, fourth Sunday of Easter. All our members are requested to pray to the Lord of harvests to send more labourers into His harvest. Let us earnestly pray and work for good vocations to our congregation.
11. Divine Retreat Centre, Muringoor is organizing an Inner Healing and Growth Retreat for Fathers and Sisters on 07 June, from 5.00 pm to 11.00 am of 12 June 2015.
