NEWS UPDATE
1. Canonical visitation, renewal program, province gathering and General Council provincial council meeting were held at SH Provincial House, Kochi, from 21st to 25th April, 2015. Rev. Fr. Joseph Vayalil, Provincial, Rev. Fr. George Thanchan, Rev. Fr. Cletus Plackal, Provincial, Rev. Fr. Joy SJ, Rev. Fr. Thomas Panthaplackal and Biju Kootaplackal were the resource persons for the Renewal program.
2. Canonical visitation, renewal program, province gathering and General Council Provincial Council meeting were held from 26st to 29th April, 2015 in Carmel Provincial House, Muvattupuzha. Rev. Fr. Atnony Urulianickal, Rev. Fr. George Thanchan, Rev. Fr. Roy Kannanchira, Rev. Fr. Toji, Rev. Fr. Antony Njallampuzha, Fr. Thomas Panthaplackal and Biju Kootaplackal were the resource persons for the Renewal program.
3. Canonical visitation, renewal program, province gathering and General Council Provincial Council meeting were held from 5th to 9th May, 2015 in Devamatha Provincial House, Thrissur. Rev. Fr. Jose Kuriedath, Rev. Fr. Prasanth Palackappilly, Rev. Fr. Paul Thelakkat, Rev. Fr. George Thanchan, Rev. Fr. Walter Thelappilly, Provincial were the resource persons for the Renewal program.
4. Canonical visitation in St. Thomas Province, Kozhikode begins on 12th May, 2015.
5. National CRI Meeting was held from 1st to 4th May, 2014 at Dharmaram College, Bangalore. Rev. Fr. Thomas Aykara, Rector Dharmaram College, welcomed the gathering to Dharmaram campus with his accumulated wisdom from long years' experience in religious leadership. His Eminence Cardinal Oswald Gracius inaugurated the session. Abp. Bernard Moras was the main celebrant for the holy mass. His Grace Abp Salvatore Pennaccio, the Nuncio of India, was the main celebrant for the concluding mass. Rev. Fr. Prior General celebrated Holy Eucharist in Syro Malabar Rite and our scholastics led the choir. Provincials from Thiruvanthapuram, Kottayam, Muvattupuzha, Thrissur, Coimbatore, Chanda, Jagadalpur, Bijnor provinces and representative from Rajkot province attended the session along with the Prior General. The office bearers and participants spoke in great appreciation for Rev. Fathers and scholastics for their great hospitality and generous service to the participants.
6. Rev. Fr. George Kulanagara, Provincial, St. John's Province, Bijnor was elected as the Secretary of National CRI (priests section). Congratulations and best wishes to Rev. Fr. Kulanagra, the provincial, in his new role as the National Secretary of CRI (Priests).
7. 184th Foundation Day of CMI congregation was celebrated on 11th May, 2015 in Mannanam. Rev. Fr. Antony Porukara was the main celebrant for the Holy Eucharist. Mar Joseph Kallarangatt gave the homily. A seminar was organized after the mass in the KE College auditorium. Rev. Fr. Cyriac Kannichai and Rev. Fr. Prior General presented the papers. Rev. Fr. Sojan Madathil, provincial, Thiruvananthapuram was moderator.
8. Rev. Fr. Sebastian Chamathara, Prior, St. Joseph's Monastery, Mannanam, was appointed as the Director, Chavara Pilgrim Centre, Mannanam. Best wishes and prayers to Rev. Fr. Sebastian Chamathara. Rev. Fr. James Madathikandathil was relieved from his office. Rev. Fr. James deserves the appreciation and gratitude of all the members of CMI family for the great efforts he has taken for the canonization of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, our beloved founder.
9. The annual meeting of KCMS will be held on 8th and 09th June, 2015. All provincials in Kerala shall attend the meeting; in their absence, the Vicar Provincial shall attend the meeting to keep abreast of our common agenda as religious, especially in the context of year of consecrated life.
10. The 101th birthday of Servant of God Fr. Canisius Thekkekara was commemorated on 12th May, 2014. Prayer was organized in Canisium at 2 p.m. The Holy mass was led by Mar Pauly Kannukadan, the Bishop of Irinjalakuda.
11. 100th birthday of Rev. Fr. Constantine will be celebrated 2.30 pm on 17th April, 2015 at St. Joseph's Monastery, Mannanam. Let us thank the Lord for the great gift of God and pray for him to continue his mission with more vigour and joy.
12. Brazil Mission: Fr. Antony Kalliath, writes: "Eleven CMI priests and the Coordinator Fr. Antony Kalliath have finished two-month long Portuguese Language Classes in Ootty and Coimbatore in the months of March and April. They were trained by two Jesuit priests who worked in Brazil. They have begun to say Eucharist in Brazilian Portuguese. They will gather again to deepen their Portuguese language at Kalamassery Provincial House from June 1st onwards. Meanwhile the process of getting Mission Visa has started. In due course of time we will be entrusted with a region called Almerim in the Santarem diocese in the Para state to start CMI Amazon Mission. Amazon Bishops Conference is quite enthusiastic regarding our CMI mission in their region. It is the first time a region is going to be entrusted with us in a foreign country. It is a new opportunity to start a CMI mission abroad upholding CMI charism and legacy. As it is known it is an inter-Province collaboration initiative supported and blessed by Fr. General and the congregation as a whole. Eleven fathers from the provinces Kochi, Muvattupuzha, Calicut, Chanda, Rajkot, Sagar and Coimbatore have joined in the first batch. Provinces namely St. Paul's Mysore and St. Joseph Trivandrum are also part of this CMI mission. As and when the visas are issued the first batch will start its mission odyssey. We request your prayers and blessings for the success of this CMI mission launch. All requested to support this mission initiative.
13. There will be a Conference of Principals and Managers of all the Syro-Malabar Catholic Colleges to be held at Mount St. Thomas on June 4th, 2015 from 10 am to 1.00 pm. If there is any grave inconvenience, please be kind enough to depute your representative. All the Principals and Managers are instructed to participate in this program.

. Mrs. Thresiamma Thomas (80), beloved Mother of Fr. Amal Kumbungal CMI (Carmel Province, Muvattupuzha), was called to eternal reward on 22.04.2015.
. Beloved mother of Bro. Amos Kochuchakkulathumalil (Made his First Profession this year at Kappad, St. Joseph's Province, Kottayam) slept in the Lord on 24.04.2015.
. Mr. Biju Thekkeparambil, brother-in-law of Fr. Joemon Karikunnel CMI (St. John's Province, Bijnor), who was suffering from blood cancer passed away on 24.04.2015.
. Mrs. Elikutty (87), beloved mother of Fr. Francis Ozhakal (St. Xavier's Province, Rajkot), was called to eternal rest on 25.04.2015.
. Mrs. Annamma (98), beloved mother of late Fr. Mathew Vettonickal cmi, slept in the Lord on 26.04.2015.
. Paternal Uncle (98), of Rev. Fr. Joby Mylickal (St. Xavier's Province, Rajkot), slept in the Lord on 26.04.2015.
. Mr. Thomas Kizhakkeveettil (83), maternal uncle of Rev. Fr. Binu Kunnel (Chavara Vice Province, Bhavnagar), slept in Lord on 03.05.2015.
. Mr. Joseph Kulathinal, beloved father of Fr. Jose Kulathinal (Chavara Vice Province, Bhavnagar), slept in the Lord on 03.05.2015.
. Mrs. Annamma Vaidyakaran (87), Grandmother of Fr. Nitin Vaidyakaran CMI (St. Paul's Province, Bhopal), slept in the Lord on 03.05.2015.
