1. The feast of St. Kuriakose Elias was celebrated with devotion and fervor at Mannanam. Rev. Fr. Prior General and the newly ordained priests prayed at the tomb of our founder and celebrated the Holy Eucharist along with other Fathers. Rev. Fr. Saju Chackalackal, General Councillor, led the novena prayers. The homily was given by Fr. Jojo Manaliparambil.

2. The newly ordained priests were given a warm reception at Chavara Hills on 4th and 5th January. The newly ordained priests shared their experiences and expectations. They celebrated the Holy Eucharist led by Rev. Fr. Binto, the former regent in Chavara Hills and Rev. Fr. Alexander Mutua Muli from Kenya gave the homily.

3. CMI Family Day was celebrated meaningfully with a simple ceremony of prayer, reflection, greetings and honouring the members who contributed uniquely in special ministries. In connection with 150th year celebration of Chavarul, Rev. Fr. Benny Nalkara CMI and Mr. John Paul addressed the gathering with insights to apply Chavarul to our community life and apostolic life. Rev. Fr. Swami Sadanand was honoured posthumously for his prophetic presence and ministry amidst us. 15 CMIs, were honored for their unique personal contributions in challenging ministries. Rev. Fr. Vicar General welcomed the gathering, Rev. Fr. Thomas Thekkel gave the felicitation address and Rev. Fr. Prior General gave the benedictory address. It was truly a family day remembering the founding fathers and their legacy with the presence of aspirants, newly professed and the newly ordained, Major Superiors and large group of members from our communities.

4. A joint meeting of the Major Superiors with Provincial Councillors for Education and Mass Media was held on 4th January. The meeting addressed the relevant issues facing the Educational institutions. It was decided to have a CMI Education Board and to register it and to start a professional office for education department. The meeting emphasized on transparency and accountability in admission and appointment and in financial matters.

5. The Meeting of the Provincials with the General Council was held on 4th and 5th January 2018 in the Prior General’s House, Kakkanad. The agenda consisted of Renewal 2018, Formation and Ongoing formation, common pooling and sharing among houses in the province, among provinces and Congregation levels, reaching out to families, children and youth through our houses and institutions, Homes for the Dalit Christians Project and Ockhi Cyclone Relief work.

6. The Quinquennial programme of the year 2017, ongoing formation for the young priests, was held from 21 December 2017 to 23 December at Chavara Hills.

7. Our members who celebrate their Golden Jubilee of Religious profession will assemble at Prior General’s House, Chavara Hills, from 13th to 15th January 2018.
8. Members who celebrate their Golden Jubilee of Priestly Ordination will meet at Prior General’s House, Chavara Hills, from 17th to 19th January 2018.

9. Meeting of the scholastics who study in College for graduation and post-graduation in the South Indian Provinces will be held from 26 January 2018 to 28 January 2018 at Chavara Hills.

10. Get together of our members in brotherhood will be held from 2 February 2018 to 4 February 2018 at Chavara Hills.

11. Gathering of CMIs ordained between 1970 and 1980 will be held from 26 February 2018 to 28 February 2018 at Chavara Hills.

12. Gathering of CMIs ordained between 1960 and 1970 will be held from 9 March 2018 to 11 March 2018 at Chavara Hills.

13. Gathering of CMIs ordained in 2016 will be held from 13th March 2018, 06.pm to 15 March 2018, 04.00 pm at CMI Prior General’s House, Chavara Hills, Kakkanad.

14. Get together of the newly professed CMIs will be held in Chavara Hills from 7th evening to 10th evening in April, 2018. On 10th they will make a pilgrimage to Mannanam and Kainakary.

• Mrs. Lissiama Thomas (55), beloved mother of Rev. Bro. Libin Thekkumkattil (Second year Theology Rishikesh) , of St. Chavara Vice Province, Bhavnagar, slept in the Lord on 04-01-2018.
