CMI Congregation expresses deep sorrow and prayerful condolences to the Eparchy of Sagar, Devamatha Province Thrissur and Neelankavil family at the sudden and unexpected demise of Bishop Emeritus Mar Joseph Pastor Neelankavil CMI, the second bishop of the Eparchy of Sagar on 17 February 2021, morning at 6.45 am. We do acknowledge with gratitude and appreciation his committed services as a Missionary Bishop, General Councillor for Evangelization and Pastoral Ministry, Provincial Councillor, Regional Superior of Sagar Region, Professor of Canon law at Dharmaram College, etc. We shall remember him in our valuable prayers. May the good Lord grant him eternal rest!

The mortal remains of the Mar Joseph Pastor Neelankavil CMI were brought to Devamatha Provincial House, Thrissur at 03.00 pm, 18 February 2021. After the Requiem Mass and the first part of the funeral rites, the mortal remains were taken to home at Aranattukkara at 05.00 pm on the same day. Final funeral ceremony and Holy Mass was held on Friday, 19 February 2021 at 9.30 am at Aranattukara Church.
