News Update
1. The convocation of DVK was held on January 28, 2020. Mar Prince Antony Panengadan presided over the holy Eucharist and gave the convocation address. Rev. Fr. Prior General presided over the convocation ceremony and conferred the degrees. Rev. Fr. Rector gave the homily and Rev. Fr. President gave the welcome address.
2. Samavarthanam in Dharmaram College was held on January 29, 2020. Rev. Fr. George Edayadiyil, Rector, Rev. Fr. Kurian Kachappilly, President of DVK and Rev. Fr. Sebastian Mullooparambil, Master, presided over the programme. Concelebrated Divine Liturgy was offered by the new priests at Dharmaram chapel.
3. The Reception and Samavarthanam Ceremony for the newly ordained priests were conducted at Carmel Vidhya Bhavan, Pune on 21st January, 2020 Monday. On 21st Monday morning the new priests celebrated holy Qurbana for the community. Prayer service and Samavathan were conducted in the evening.
4. Samavarthanam at Samanvaya Theologate, Bhopal was held on 25th January, 2020 Saturday. Fr. Peter Kochalumkal, Rector, Benny Thettayil, Dean and Biju Savio Thekkekkara, Master presided over the programme. Along with that, 150th death anniversary of St. Chavara was also celebrated with the neighbouring communities.
5. Constitution Retreat was held at CSR, Pariyaram from February 2-8, 2020. Rev. Fr. Thomas Kochumuttom was the retreat preacher.
6. Constitution Retreat was held at New York for the members in US and Canada. Rev. Fr. Antony Njallampuzha preached the retreat. 36 CMIs attended the retreat.
7. Rev. Fr. Prior General gave the orientation talk at the gathering of the General, Regional and Delegate councils of MST Fathers held at MST General House, Bharananganam on January 27, 2020.
8. Rev. Fr. Prior General gave an orientation program for OIC General and Provincial Councils in preparation for their General Synaxis on February 7, 2020.
9. Along with the blessing of a new CMI centre at Kwanmang, Ghana, inauguration of CMI Marriet School at Kwamang was held on 15th February, 2020. Congratulations and Best wishes to Rev. Fr. Benoj John Makkollil and Ghana missionaries.
10. The blessing of a new multipurpose hall (Chapel) in Carmel, Madagascar was held on February 2, 2020 by Rev. Fr. Davis Panakkal CMI, Vicar Provincial, Devamatha Province, Thrissur.
11. Feast of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara was celebrated at Chavara Bhavan, Kainakaray on February 9, 2020. The flag hoisting was held on February 7, 2020 by Rev. Fr. Antony Elamthottam. Rev Fr. Prior General was the main celebrant for the Holy Qurbana and Rev. Fr. James Madathikandathil gave the homily. Rev. Fr. Johny released the book on CMI history written by Mr. Mani Pius. Mar Joseph Perumthottam celebrated Holy Qurbana on the birthday of St Chavara on February 10, 2020. Mar Gratian Mundadan CMI was the main celebrant for the feast of St. Kuriakose Elias on his baptism day, February 16. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Thomas Kallukulam and Rev. Fr. Thomas Irimpukuthiyil and Rev. Fr. Joseph Ayyamakary for the effective celebration of the feast.
12. The 215th birthday of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara was celebrated at Chavara Hills along with the religious and priests around the Generalate. More than 100 priests and religious attended the programme. All the guests attended the prayer service, veneration of the relic of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara and dinner. The programme was well organized with entertainment programs and personal sharing of a few of the guests. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Prefect and the community for organizing the event very effectively.
13. Rev. Fr. Geo Karuvelil CMI joined Chavara Hills community on February 3, 2020 to take charge as the Secretary to the Prior General and now he is getting used to the office system.
14. Get together of the batch ordained in 2018 December - January 2019, was held at Chavara Hills from February 12-15, 2020. Rev. Fr. Prior General gave the inaugural message. Rev. Fr. Thomas Kochumuttam, Rev. Fr. Mathew Kuzhinjalil OCD, Rev. Fr. Mathew Paikkatt, Rev. Fr. Paul Poovathingal, and Rev. Fr. Peter Chakyath OCD were the resource persons for the sessions. Hearty congratulations to Rev. Fr. Joshy Cheruparampil for organizing the get together.
15. Chavara Central Secretariat has published a new book, Daivavum Manushyarum Ivarkku Swantham (History of CMI Congregation) written by Mr. Mani Pius. Hearty congratulations to Rev. Fr. Saju Chackalackal and team.

? Mrs. Mary Poulose (74) beloved sister of Rev. Fr. Jose Pellissery CMI (Devamatha Province, Thrissur) was called to eternal reward on 27 January 2020. The Funeral was held on 28 January 2020 at 3.30 pm at St. Joseph's Forane Church, Kodakara.
? Mr. P T George (86) beloved father of Rev. Fr. Joel Pullolil CMI (Sacred Heart Province, Kochi) was called to eternal reward. The Funeral was on Monday, 10 February 2020 at 2.30 pm at Holy Cross Church Muttada, Trivandrum.
? Mrs. Rita Joseph (83) beloved mother of Rev. Fr. Joju Chiriyankandath CMI (Preshitha province, Coimbatore) was called to eternal reward on 13th February 2020. The funeral was on 13th February 2020 (Thursday) at 5.00 pm at St. Sebastian Church, Chittattukara, Thrissur.
? Mrs. Mary Augustine (79) beloved elder sister of Rev. Fr. James Manjapuzhathundiyil CMI (Mary Matha Vice province, Hyderabad) was called to eternal reward on 17 February 2020. The funeral will be on Wednesday, 19 February 2020 at 10 am at St. Joseph’s Church, Kelakam, Mananthavady.
